Scrap wood city's business cards

Graphic design: Dimitris Klonos
Creative silk printing: Tind silkscreen

Those are the business cards for scrap wood city. They were silk printed using a unique technique by Tind. The graphic designer gives the design to the printer in black and white. The printer then prints it on any paper he likes, with any ink he likes and any technique he likes. The outcome is this unique and beautiful random effect.

This is an example of how the designer and the printer can co create. It was awesome!

This is my latest short animation.

It is about living in harmony with nature. Man takes what he needs from the planet but he must also give something back.

This way life goes on in a nice way.

I hope you like it.

5 reasons to love woodworking

Art direction: Dimitris Klonos
Illustrations: Dimitris Klonos
Production: Dimitris Klonos

This is a video I created to promote my woodworking you tube channel scrap wood city.

All the illustrations are vector graphics and use colors from a color palette I chose  especially for this video.
I wanted the video to have a retro-modern feel and this is the reason I chose this shaky effect along with film scratches effect for it. I also wanted the illustrations to be simple and kind of abstract.

I hope you like it!

3D illustration for print ad campaign

3D Illustration: Dimitris Klonos
Art Director: Eleni Kremida
Copywriter:  Natasa Vourgana
Creative Manager: Natasa Vourgana
Advertising agency: Havas Worldwide Athens
Client: Attica bank

I was called to illustrate a 3D visual for Attica bank's campaign. The creative idea behind this ad is that Attica gives you the best perspective on your interest rates. The visual is a 3 dimensional rate that needed to be rendered on a certain angle of the camera in order to dramatize it's perspective.

Redesigning BMtools website

Art Director / Graphic Designer: Dimitris Klonos
Web development: Harilaos Soultis
Client: BMtools

BMtools is an e-shop that sells various types of tools. We redesigned it's web page under 3 basic rules. Functionality, Branding, Aesthetics.

The web site is based on a template on which both me (the designer) and the developer worked on in order to customize it to our needs. I branded the site with BMtools logo and identity colors. I designed all the new icons needed and all the interior and exterior (landing page) banners for the slideshows. We also customized many pages of the template in order to fit our needs and aesthetics.

It was a long but interesting process to Art direct, design and develop a website this deep with so much content.

I think it was worth the work.

Stop motion animation for scrap wood city blog

Creator: Dimitris Klonos
Production: Dimitris Klonos

This is a stop motion animation I've produced to promote my DIY woodworking blog scrap wood city.  I've used items that I made for the articles of the blog to act as the main characters of my animation.  It all started with a rough sketch storyboard.

The idea on a stroryboard

Then I shot the scenes with my mobile phone, edited them one by one and then edited them all together in one video. All the sound and music in the video are also produced by me.

I hope you'll find it interesting.

Sketchy illustration for the hunter

Illustration: Dimitris Klonos

A friend of mine asked me to create a hunter character of one of her colleagues. A hunter needs proper clothing, a gun and his binoculars so I've added all these elements to the character. Ofcourse our hunter doesn't kill living things he is just a symbol of someone who is capable of achieving his goals.

low polygon illustration

 3D illustration: Dimitris Klonos

This is an experimental 3D illustration using the low poly style. Low poly 3D style gives a more abstract effect and as a result it offers a more creative way to use 3D aesthetics. Experimenting with creative 3D techniques is as interesting as using 3D to create photo realistic cg images.

Logo design and website art direction for Phyto Testing

Art Director / Graphic Designer: Dimitris Klonos
Web development: iarts

Phyto Testing Services Ο.Ε. (PTS) has been established in 2011 in order to offer a range of cotton breeding and variety evaluation services.

As a result the logo and brand identity had to combine nature with science. We've used the green color of fresh leaves as the main brand color and the DNA/ growing plant symbol in order to express the brand's purpose.

The website is simple and clean in order to be easy for the viewer to navigate through the pages and find out more about the company.

For this website we tried to mary the traditional style of byzantine art with modern design elements. As a result we've used warm earth colors and gold. The canvas texture is also used in many elements of the site. We also designed vector icons for various purposes of the site.

The innovative design makes this site one of the best in the category traditional products of Greece whereas at the same time it projects the authenticity of the artifacts as this is their main characteristic.

Sonny Rollins illustration

Art: Dimitris Klonos

An illustration dedicated to the saxophone colossus and legendary jazz master Sonny Rollins. Sometimes in jazz the musician tries to capture the basic forms of chords and melodies in order to interpret a tune in his own way. I tried something similar in this illustration. By keeping the basic forms I tried to interpret an image in my own way. As a result I've created this abstract illustration of Sonny. I hope I didn't lose the feel in the end!

3D stratocaster electric guitar modeling

3D modeling: Dimitris Klonos
Photoshop color correction: Dimitris Klonos

This is a stratocaster type electric guitar in 3D. The stratocaster type is one of the most famous electric guitar type of all time. As a result, this masterpiece of industrial design inspired me to create a 3D model based on a real strat.

The color of the body of the guitar is the famous sunburst. One of the reasons I have created this 3D model is that I want to experiment with different illustrations and paint jobs on the body and the pickguard of the guitar. Having a 3D model is really easy to change colors and designs in order to study how a certain picture looks on the strat. In future I'll post more on the subject.
