Polymer crystallization video

Production: Dimitris Klonos
This is a video demonstrating the polymer crystallization process. It is created for the Dielectrics Group of the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA).

It is shot using a 50mm lens with macro filters in front, which allow the camera to get really close to the subject. This way the viewer can have a really close look to the crystallization process.

This is a teaser motion graphics video for my personal portfolio's promotion.

It is a composition of a photograph and several vector illustration animal characters.

It is called design jungle because I think my portfolio is a compilation of many different design styles and categories.

My entries for the International Reggae Poster Contest (IRPC) 2014

Graphic Designer: Dimitris Klonos
Illustrations: Dimitris Klonos

These are my entries for International Reggae Poster Contest (IRPC) 2014.

IRPC is an international Poster Contest supporting reggae music.

My first entry is a Portrait of famous roots reggae legendary musician Burning Spear. The portrait is made in a rough manner in order to give the impression of the beauty and roughness of mother nature.

The second entry features a reggae bassist illustration. After all the rhythm and groove are really important in music and especially reggae. It is a minimalistic vector illustration. I consider reggae music beautiful and simple and I've tried to express that with  my design.

Logo for the Dielectrics Group of NTUA

Graphic design: Dimitris Klonos

The Dielectrics Group of the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA) in Greece, works with main focus on the study of the structure-property relationships in polymers and biopolymers. Research into this field has been proceeding for more than 25 years in Athens in close cooperation with several universities and research centers worldwide, in particular in Europe. The group has contributed to over 200 refereed journal papers and numerous conference contributions.

After a brief conversation with a member of the DG group about their work I started having some thoughts on what forms or symbols might be relevant for a logo like that.

The final logo has two main versions a portrait and a landscape one. The sign has 3 dominant features. Fist of all the "D" "G" initials that are bound together like a chain. Second feature is the capacitor symbol on the "D". Third is the color, I use a blue tone which matches with the DG group's website colors.

You can also view the basic guidelines of the logo, the colors, negative and positive and the basic safe area.
